McCann Quote of The Month

Ye couldna make it up Jimmy.

The Sun has revealed a series of leads in Portuguese police files gathering dust. Kate and Gerry, both 41, of Rothley, Leics, recently called the treatment of Maddie's disappearance "inhumane".

Have a PPS, a bit more that you couldn't make up.

Mister McCann reiterated his belief that Madeleine was still alive,
"Reassuringly, we know there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever to suggest that Madeleine has been seriously harmed." said Mister McCann in a recent interview.

In a previous interview Mrs McCann said, "Somebody has committed a heinous crime."

This post keeps growing, here's another pearl I have just come across.

The appointment of the well-respected Mitchell is a boost to the Conservatives' campaign, which has lost ground in the opinion polls in recent weeks, despite last weekend's Spring Conference. PRWeekly

Madeleine McCann Died in Apartment 5A Are the Conclusions of the Police Not Good Enough or Just Not to Your Liking?

After furnishing an answer to that, you might offer an insight as to why Goncalo Amaral's Book A Verdade Da Mentira - The Truth About The Lie, is subject to an injunction at all?

The inferences or the conclusions drawn by Goncalo Amaral in his book are essentially those of the Police Judiciara, so much so in fact, that you would have trouble differentiating between the two.

Words verbatim, or as near to each other, that one wonders just what forces were at play in the granting of the injunction by a Portuguese Court under the propitious Judge Amélia Puna Loupo.

It couldn't possible be the same forces that allowed Madeiran lawyer Marcos Aragão Correia, a man far more suited to treatment than a courtroom appearance, to bring charges that were, quite simply, astounding, and equally astounding, the manner in which Correia gathered his "evidence." Of his visions, I will make no mention here.

Brought, I might add, under the direction of the less than spotless Metodo 3, who in turn were acting for, and employed by the McCanns. A company totally unsuited to searching for a child, but far more suited to other activities, most of them illegal, as records show.

I have no desire to wander down this murky path, a path it must be said, that with suspicious frequency, seems to terminate in an equally murky Portuguese courtroom.

My intention rather, is to set before the ever increasing numbers of new people that are searching for some understanding as to why the book, A Verdade Da Mentira, finds itself subject to an injunction. The answer to which will only become apparent when consideration has been given to all that surrounds this travesty.

A travesty of trumped up charges played out with the farce and high drama worthy of a Stalinist show trial rather than a modern day European judicial system, but then as now, not I imagine, looked upon by the victims as quite the farce I describe.

Madeleine McCann is dead, Kate and Gerry McCann are complicit in that death, as they are equally complicit in disposing of her body, be assured of that.

As others are without doubt, complicit in rendering assistance to the act of disposal, there are more by far that collude to discredit and even destroy the life as he knows it, of Goncalo Amaral.

One such other, and major player in the efforts directed at Goncalo Amaral, and the efforts to hinder the bringing to justice Kate and Gerry McCann is, and I mention without the slightest compunction, Clarence Mitchell.

Clarence Mitchell, up to his sordid neck in this obstruction of justice, and there at the behest of the British Government, let us never forget that pertinent little fact.

The same Clarence Mitchell, spin doctor otherwise liar, soon to join the Conservative Party in the capacity of head of media monitoring for its general election campaign, you just couldn't make it up could you?

And if you will allow me a small digression, this party, the Conservatives, are saying to the electorate, you can trust us to govern, you can trust our judgement. Honestly.

There are many in this category, but today I choose of them to make no mention, for today belongs to the Judicial System of Portugal and to masters to which it pays homage.

The Capriano case mentioned above can be found here, which is but a small part of a magnificent effort, reported and compiled by citizen journalist Joana Morais and her colleagues around the globe.

CONCLUSIONS OF THE POLÍCIA JUDICIÁRIA REPORT DATED SEPTEMBER 10, 2007:

“From everything that has been exposed, it RESULTS from the Files THAT:

A) the minor Madeleine McCann died in apartment 5A at the Ocean Club resort in Praia da Luz, on the night of the 3rd of May 2007;

B) a simulation of an abduction took place;

C) in order to render the child’s death impossible before 22H00, a situation of checking of the McCann couple’s children while they slept was made up;

D) Kate McCann and Gerald McCann are involved in the concealment of the cadaver of their daughter, Madeleine McCann;

E) at this moment, there seem to be no strong indications that the child’s death was not the result of a tragic accident, yet;

F) from what has been established up to now, everything indicates that the McCann couple, in self-defence, doesn’t want to deliver the cadaver immediately and voluntarily, and there is a strong possibility that it was moved from the initial place of deposition. This situation may raise questions concerning the circumstances in which the death of the child took place.

(Page 2601 of the process)

CONCLUSIONS OF THE BOOK "MADDIE, THE TRUTH OF THE LIE", PUBLISHED IN JULY 2008:

“For me, and for the investigators that worked on the case with me until October 2007, the results that we reached were the following:

1. The minor Madeleine McCann died in apartment 5-A at the Ocean Club, in Vila da Luz, on the night of the 3rd of May, 2007;

2. A simulation of an abduction took place;

3. Kate Healy and Gerald McCann are suspected of being involved in the concealment of their daughter’s cadaver;

4. Death may have taken place as the result of a tragic accident;

5. There are indications of neglect in the guard and security of the children.”

Gentlemen of the Press, You Shame More Than Yourselves, You Shame the Nation

I have just fallen on this extraordinary list of shame, and posted in a blog I have never heard of before. I'm going to rectify that now and will reporting the morning.

I will just post it as a I found it, but this is but a tiny fraction of what is simply a most deplorable list of shame.

I've just popped back to say that if you have never visited Winnowing the News, you have quite a surprise coming your way.

Goncalo Amaral - Fired, Sacked, Kicked-off, Booted etc.
Posted by Winnower on 3/01/2010

In keeping with the excellent *balanced* reporting the media has given the McCann case...here is a list of examples of the headlines related to Goncalo Amaral - describing his transfer from the Madeleine case in one or more of the following terms: "FIRED, SACKED, BOOTED-OUT, KICKED-OFF, AXED" (etc.)

I have studied these as I've compiled the lists, and must admit that there has been absolutely NO evidence of unbiased reporting in the case of Madeleine McCann. It is, in my opinion, an insult to the British public that journalists do not have enough respect for their readers to stick to the facts and to avoid sensationalism or spin. Apparently ethics no longer exist in the news media. (Thank God for the Internet.)

Comments on Mitchell Joining the Tories-Funny

And these from PRWeekly lol. We are not alone.

I think this calls for a full Mitchell Gallery tomorrow, with a suitable eye catching title of course.

~ ~ ~

Elizabeth Newman - 04 March 2010

Well being a life long Tory voter, they have just lost my vote. I will not vote for anyone who has Clarence Mitchell on board. I would have to check night was day if he told me. I do not believe a word that comes out of his mouth.

I remember him saying "it was a British thing" that people neglected children in the UK. Well Mr Mitchell it might be your clients idea of child care, it is not mine or many other people in the UK.

maureen myers - 04 March 2010

I agree Elizabeth word for word. to be honest i was thinking of voting Conservative this time, first time ever\(after been a lifelong Labour supporter) NO WAY NOW!!!! that is another vote gone, keep it up conservative, and it will be a landslide victory for Labour at this rarte!!

maureen myers - 04 March 2010

sorry spelt rate wrong on my earlier post!!! also i forgot to add is this why the Mccanns have suddenly gone to Cameron for "help"?? hmmmm all adds up.

Tim Tomasz - 04 March 2010

Well, the Conservative party has just lost my vote. I can't believe this. I've only ever voted Tories and was looking forward to the general election because for the first time in years, it looked like we were in a strong position and now this! WHY?

Maharishi M - 04 March 2010

I like those tiles behind Clarence - very nice for creating a luxury feel in a shower room but thats about the only thing of interest he has to offer here....

Richard Perowne - 04 March 2010

Goodness me, the Labour PR hacks are quick to comment aren't they?

Tim Tomasz - 04 March 2010

The Tories may as well have hired Gary Glitter. That's how strongly I feel about this appointment.

Nick Glaves - 04 March 2010

I don't know a great deal about this man, why does he inspire such strong reactions?

Christine Silverman - 04 March 2010

Clarence Mitchell disgusts me. I agree 100% with Elizabeth Newman. I would also like to add that he lied about public donations to the Fund, saying that all of the money would go towards looking for that wee girl, when in fact only 13% of it did, according to the McCanns own accounts. The man is a manipulator and liar, and if that is the sort of person that the Tories want on board, then they just lost my vote as well. You can't sleep with the dogs, Dave, then complain when you get fleas.

Kay Becker - 04 March 2010

I would think it would be better to have someone unbiased as head of the MMU. How can a spokesperson for a family in the news be objective when articles about the family and the case are printed. I would not like to see stories being shaped regarding this matter.

Anna Andress - 04 March 2010

As a lifelong Labour voter, I had just about decided that David Cameron spoke a lot of sense and I am truly sick of NuLabour! However, anyone who would contemplate employing this spin merchant who has consistently helped make a small child a successful marketing project is not worth considering as far as I am concerned.

Mitchell Joins Tories.

This has just fallen into my inbox, I don't know if this is common knowledge, but I shall throw it up. Now there's a choice phrase for you. No comment, I'm heading out for a spell.

Update: PRWeek Tell me about it!

McCann Spokesman Gets Tory Election Job

5:56pm UK, Thursday March 04, 2010

Ruth Barnett, Sky News Online
A spokesman for Madeleine McCann's parents is to become a senior member of the Conservatives' election team, the party has confirmed.

Clarence Mitchell will begin his new role as head of media monitoring next week.

The former BBC journalist is not expected to speak publicly on behalf of the Tories.

He will report to communications chief Andy Coulson.

Mr Mitchell began representing Kate and Gerry McCann in 2007 after their daughter Madeleine disappeared during a family holiday in Portugal.

Before that, he spent two years as the head of the Government's media monitoring team.

He is also a consultant for Freud Communications, specialising in crisis management.

Other families he has advised include the parents of murdered teenager Jimmy Mizen and Fiona MacKeown, who's daughter Scarlett Keeling was killed in Goa. Sky

I have had my head down for the last few days, and took my first opportunity to look in at Joana Morais and came away with my head spinning. A cursory glance at all the nonsense was as much as I could do, but I came away with a question to ask.

Has the world gone stark raving fucking mad! has it? mass Maddie hysteria everywhere.

It's as though nobody can recognise when somebody is taking the piss anymore , has the human race suddenly become deficient in some gene or other?

For fuck's sake, will you fucking stop! wake up for crying out loud, this is madness!

Here's a quick handful I grabbed, just to let you know sanity still rules here, and here, there's a bit of something new.

Behavioural Patterns

For its descriptive power and for it's simple eloquence in achieving it's goal, these few words I think, are peerless. Seldom have I come across a sentence better suited to describe the McCann's behaviour on the evening of the third of May 2007, the evening that Madeleine met her fate.

I deliberately, in the first instance and for reasons obvious, refrain from using the word abducted, and in the second instance, the word disappeared.

Why do I make a point of this, the obvious apart? Madeleine did not disappear, to our eyes she may have, but she did not disappear. But primarily I mention it because quite recently I came across a quote from the insidious Clarence Mitchell, where he insisted that, "It's all a complete mystery."

Some details we are lacking most surely, but it is neither a mystery to us, as equally it is not a mystery to you, complete or otherwise.

The only thing that is complete, is your criminal complicity in obstructing justice.

It is said you aspire to be a Member of Parliament, don't be silly, the thought, like yourself, is too ridiculous for words.

Then There Were Four discusses the recent appearance on Spanish television by Mercedes.

~

It is in events such as this we see the actions and the words of the McCanns as neither consistent nor in accordance with the actions and imperatives of a parent trying to find or protect their child.

The McCanns themselves chose the time to alert the police, and it was the McCanns who demonstrably did not act in accordance with the circumstances they found themselves in. The circumstances demanded an urgent and efficient response, a response any truly concerned parent would have without hesitation made. It is here in the disparity between the actions and the words of the McCanns that we find a state of mind which is almost an unwillingness to act and one that is in total conflict with the priorities one might expect any parent in similar circumstances to automatically assume. more

Paulo Sargento. Alfonso Egea. Mercedes. an Interview

Paulo Sargento, Alfonso Egea, and our own dear Mercedes of Hasta que se sepa la Verdad, were recently interviewed by the Spanish television network Cuatro (Four) for the show Las mañanas de Cuatro. (Four Mornings, unsurprisingly.)

The interview although in Spanish, is however, accompanied by an English transcript, here's a taste.

Alejandro Vázquez: You've worked on the Madeleine case from the beginning

Paulo Sargento: From the beginning, from the second day after the disappearance

Alejandro Vázquez: And what's your theory?

Paulo Sargento: I think the girl died on May 3, and it would have been utterly impossible for the kidnapping to have taken place. The abduction has been a media construction only, because there is not one supporting fact to support this.

Alejandro Vázquez: Why the McCanns are now saying that there is no evidence that Madeleine is dead?

Paulo Sargento: Because their (the McCann’s) interpretation is contrary to death, in fact there is evidence: corpse odour, the scent of human blood and there is a set of forensic evidence, evidence that the girl is dead unfortunately.

Alejandro Vázquez: Can your surmise that with such evidence that there has been a murder, manslaughter...

Paulo Sargento: Yes

Alejandro Vázquez: ...the case has been shelved.

Paulo Sargento: I am sure that were it a Portuguese couple, the treatment wouldn’t have been the same. The forensic evidence would have been constituted as proof, and probably the couple would be in prison.

Alejandro Vázquez: How would you define Gerry and Kate’s behaviour? more

The Quality of the Searchers

Is I'm afraid on par with my offering here.

Kate McCann's attempt at damage limitation after the Lisbon debacle, which can be read in full at the post immediately below.

We are currently in Lisbon for the trial to determine whether the injunction against Mr Amaral's book and DVD should remain in place. This trial is about whether the book is a true reflection [1] of the official judicial process in to Madeleine's disappearance and whether its contents damage the ongoing search for Madeleine, [2] her siblings [3] and our reputations.[4]

[1] No it isn't, it is a book, what it reflects is academic.

[2] What search, ongoing or otherwise, is that pray, and by whom, surely not, Metodo "home by Christmas" 3, they of the Morocco fiasco, paid false sightings, Illegal wire-tappers, cocaine thieves and general crooks all round.

The private detective being paid by Kate and Gerry McCann to find their daughter has claimed he knows who took Madeleine and that he could have her back with her family before Christmas.

Francisco Marco, the director general of Metodo 3, indicated that they were closing in on the four-year-old’s abductor and preparing to hand over their “evidence” to police.

He said: “We have proof of her movements after her kidnap and we know she was alive the day after her disappearance. We are not certain she left Portugal.

The detective added: “We know who kidnapped her. Liverpool Echo

Well you would kind of expect detectives of the calibre of the Metodo 3 to do just that, I mean let's face it, they are the business, Charlie Potatoes, the Dog's Bollocks of the investigation world. How could they not be, they have to be, the News of the World says they are, and there is one thing you can rely on when it involves the McCanns, you can certainly rely on the Screws. Can't you just.

Emphasis mine, capitals theirs.

A CRACK new team of private eyes are now hunting missing Maddie McCann-and they are convinced she was snatched TO ORDER by a paedophile gang then SMUGGLED out to Morocco.

Today we sensationally reveal the renowned Spanish Metodo 3 detective agency-hired by parents Kate and Gerry-believe the four-year-old was targeted after a tip-off from INSIDE their Portuguese holiday complex.

An insider said: "It's distressing but gives us all hope Maddie's still alive."

DISTRAUGHT Kate and Gerry McCann are coming to terms with the sickening thought that missing daughter Maddie is in the hands of a gang of Moroccan paedophiles.

After studying all the evidence the couple's team of ace private eyes are convinced the she was kidnapped to order from the family's Algarve holiday apartment then spirited away to feed North Africa's sick child sex industry.

The highly-respected Spanish detective agency Metodo 3 have NEVER FAILED to find a missing person they've hunted-including a teenage boy they rescued after he was abducted by a pervert. Prisoner of evil newsoftheworld.co.uk

They're boys, they surely are.

But are we talking about the same firm here, surely not the same firm that The Mail, of all people, describe as an Irrelevant Waste of Funds, shurely shome mishtake?

How can they be irrelevant, not all forty of them, surely not, not when each and every one them has his own personal Cuddle Cat to squeeze.

Metodo 3, whose contract expires in March, has 40 investigators working on the case, here and in Portugal and Spain.

Each has a replica of Cuddle Cat, Madeleine's favourite toy, which they are encouraged to squeeze when they feel demotivated at the size of their task.

So, if it's not forty detectives and forty cuddle Cats that's doing the searching, who is?

Well there's one thing for sure, it's not this fellow, he won't be searching, not from the inside of a jail cell he won't, searching his soul possibly for the odd "if only" or two, you know the ones, if only I hadn't taken the piss quite so much, I might not be sat here in this goddamned cell right now.

No I'm afraid the only thing Kevin,"a fool and someone else's money are soon parted" Halligen, is going to be looking for, is to avoid becoming Bubba's new wife when he experiences the horrors of what the Prison Nation (US) describes as the Department of Corrections.

This crack team of ex FBI described by the Mail, we must then assume is Halligen.
The obvious thing about this report are the priceless quotes by "a friend of the McCanns" Clarence Mitchell, they are, what one might simply describe as, something else, though quite possibly you might choose another description. But of all things, I think it would be safe to assume that Mitchell never returns to read that which rotates no more, old spin. So here is a little reminder for the dear heart.

But of this report as indeed with most others of its ilk, it beggars a question. Why after being made to look foolish by Mitchell and the McCanns, do the press keep coming back time after time for another basin full? Buggers for punishment as my Daddy used to say.

McCanns hire crack team of ex-FBI agents to find Madeleine

Kate and Gerry McCann have hired a team of crack U.S detectives to lead the hunt for their missing daughter Madeleine, it has emerged.

The unnamed US firm is said to have been offered a £500,000 six-month contract by the Find Madeleine Fun to help spearhead the search.

A friend of the McCanns said: 'The hunt for Madeleine is becoming more and more international and it was felt that a truly international firm was now needed to lead the inquiry.

"These really are the big boys. They are absolutely the best, but they are extremely secretive and cloak-and-dagger about what they do.

'Since their appointment, Metodo has very much taken a back seat and they are now concentrating primarily in Portugal and Spain and across the Straits of Gibraltar into north Africa, where they have their main contacts.

'The American agency is pretty much handling everything else.'

The secretive firm is said to employ ex-FBI, CIA and U.S special forces, according to the Daily Mirror.

The McCanns' spokesman Clarence Mitchell, said: 'Kate and Gerry made it clear from the outset they would leave no stone unturned in finding Madeleine and that means employing the very best people in any given field.

'It is correct that an international firm of investigators have been appointed.

'But I am unable to say anything at all about them because of the covert nature of their work and the need for secrecy, not only in looking for Madeleine, but also in relation to previous operations.'

The McCanns now have detectives working around the world at a reported cost of £166,000 a month. Mail

Doesn't he talk some bollocks.

"Renowned for leaving no stone unturned in his UK murder investigations"

Who went on to say:

"Madeleine McCann is still alive and was snatched by someone who wanted a child to love"

But that changed into:

He feels this is the lone prowler who has Maddie stashed in a cellar or dungeon in the lawless villages around Praia da Luz.

“I don’t want to generalise or make gross exaggerations, but there are people there living on the edges of society,” The rest of this boy's own nonsense at the Belfast Telegraph

And:

“Jane is a very reliable witness"

And:

I'm loosing the will to live.

And

Unfinished as it is, I'm going to go play in Paintshop, I must be able to come up with something better than this stale effort.

Initially I started out to briefly cover each one Kate McCann's talking points, but it has turned into this over written piece that was meant to highlight just what a crock the Mccann's searching has been.
And if this mockery is their best effort, then how much bigger a mockery is it to plead before a judge that the publication of Goncalo Amaral's is somehow going to hinder a search for which there are no active participents anyway.

Enough.
And Unedited.

Damage Limitation

Kate McCann's attempt at damage limitation after a few previously known and unknown facts became available to a wider audience after the Lisbon hearing.

We are currently in Lisbon for the trial to determine whether the injunction against Mr Amaral's book and DVD should remain in place. This trial is about whether the book is a true reflection of the official judicial process in to Madeleine's disappearance and whether its contents damage the ongoing search for Madeleine, her siblings and our reputations.

Mr Amaral's book and DVD contains some information from the PJ files but there is a lot in the files which is not in Mr Amaral's book. Hence it is highly selective and therefore biased. Mr Amaral's book contains his opinions rather than fact. His opinions differ from the findings in the PJ file. The conclusions of the latter are: 1.there is no evidence that Madeleine is dead and 2. there is no evidence that Gerry or I are involved in Madeleine's disappearance. This is very different to the theories and conclusions of Mr Amaral. It is logical and common sense that spreading these theories as Mr Amaral did (and continues todo) damages the search to find our little girl. If the general public (and the Portuguese people in particular) are bombarded day in and day out with such theories, this will eventually 'colour' their understanding and judgement -lies and inaccuracies become fact. If people subsequently believe that Madeleineis dead and that we are involved in her disappearance then they will not look for Madeleine, will not consider any suspicions about others which they may have and will not come forward with information. We consider this highly detrimental to the search for Madeleine.

There are few points which have been raised in the last few days which I would like to address specifically:

Abduction theory:For us, there is only the abduction theory possible because we were not involved in Madeleine's disappearance and we know Madeleine did not wander off by herself. It is obvious and right that the police should consider other theories initially.

The window: I described to the police officers exactly what I found that night, as it was and is highly relevant and I knew that every little detail could be helpful in finding my daughter which is our only aim. The window which is a ground floor window was completely open and is large enough for a person to easily climb through it. Whether it had been opened for this purpose remains unknown. It could of course have been opened by the perpetrator when inside the apartment as a potential escape route or left open as a 'red herring'

The dogs: We realise that the behaviour of the dogs was the turning point in the investigation for the PJ. The use of dogs has proved to be problematic and unreliable in previous cases

(please refer to the Jersey ‘Haut de La Garenne' case and other research published about their use and reliability). It is vital to note that alerts by such dogs are classified as intelligence rather than evidence, as police officers familiar with their use will verify. These alerts must be supported by forensics in order to be used as evidence. The results of the forensic examinations did not identify any blood or Madeleine's DNA. To suggestor use the dogs´ reactions as evidence is simply wrong and abusive.

The proposed reconstruction: The suggestion of a reconstruction of our movements and other key witnesses at the crime scene and/or surrounding area in the early days following Madeleine's abduction was declined by the PJ as 'not usual' for Portugal. When the PJ finally requested a reconstruction to take place in 2008, Gerry and I were still arguidos and as such would have attended for a reconstruction. Some key witnesses (including some of our friends)declined to attend the planned reconstruction as they were not convinced of the aims and usefulness of it. In particular, as the reconstruction was not to be shown to the media (and hence the general public), they did not feel it would help to find Madeleine. Had the intention been to show it to the general public, it may have 'jogged' memories and encouraged people to come forward with information. It should be added that other key witnesses were not invited to attend.

Our team is confident that the injunction will remain in place because none of the witnesses thus far have been able to prove in court that Mr. Amaral's right to express his opinion is superior to the rights of our family to peace, respect and protection of reputation, and above all, the right to continue the search for our daughter Madeleine effectively and without hindrance. As has been made clear this week, Mr Amaral's ‘thesis' is not supported by any evidence. The search for Madeleine must go on until we find her and bring her abductor(s) to justice.

Gerry McCann David Payne Suspicions of Paedophilia

The statements below were given by two English Doctors, Arul and Katherina Gaspar, to Leicestershire Constabulary thirteen days after the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

The Doctors Gaspar had previously shared a holiday in Majorca with Kate and Gerry McCann along with David and Fiona Payne.

Sufficiently concerned by the inappropriate behaviour displayed by David Payne in an interaction with Gerry McCann, motivated Katherina Gaspar and her husband Arul Gaspar to approach Leicestershire Constabulary and make statements to that effect.

It must be noted that both statements given by the Gaspars were withheld by Leicestershire Constabulary for a period of over six months.

Both statements were withheld by Leicestershire Constabulary until such time as Goncalo Amaral, Policia Judiciaria Co-ordinator for the Madeleine McCann case, was removed from the investigation on grounds of what was deemed to be inappropriate criticism of the English Police who were ostensibly assisting the Policia Judiciaria in the enquiry. Dr Amaral voluntary resigned from the Policia Judiciaria some short time later.

After his retirement Dr Amaral wrote the book A Verdade Da Mentira - The Truth About The Lie. As an introduction to the statements of the Doctors Gaspar, I have taken this excerpt from Doctor Amaral's book to in hope of explaining the circumstances surrounding the statements of the Gaspars.

I will however, leave it you the reader to draw your own inferences regarding the delay of more than half a year before the statements were forwarded to the Policia Judiciaria by Leicestershire Constabulary.

Links for the English version of A Verdade Da Mentira can be found at the end of this article.

~ ~ ~

From A Verdade Da Mentira:

This witness statement from the couple, S.G. and K.G., is taken by the English police on May 16th, thirteen days after Madeleine's disappearance. That information, very important for the progress of the investigation, was never sent to the Portuguese police. When the Portuguese investigators learn about similar events that allegedly took place during a holiday in Greece - without, however, obtaining reliable witness statements -, they tell the English police, who, even at this point, refrain from revealing what they know on the subject.

It will only be after my removal from the investigation, in October 2007, that this statement will finally be sent to the Portuguese police. Why did the British keep it secret for more than six months? It is all the more surprising that David Payne, who had planned the trip to Majorca - of whom it was known that his behaviour towards the children was, to say the least, questionable -, is the same person who organised the holiday in Portugal, that he is one of those closest to Madeleine and that he is the first friend of the family to have been seen with Kate McCann just after the disappearance (we will talk further about this). He was still present in Vila da Luz when the English police received that witness statement: why wasn't he interviewed immediately? Without doubt, the Portuguese police could have made progress with the investigation thanks to that lead: such behaviour would merit close attention. Were we looking in the right direction? Might we have established a link with the events of May 3rd? It is difficult to seriously doubt these witnesses.

Witness statement of Katherina Zacharias Gaspar

Surname: GASPAR
First Names: KATHERINA ZACHARIAS
Age: +18
Date of Birth:
Address:
Postal Code:
Profession:
Telephone no.:
Date of Statement: 16/05/2007
Number of Pages: 8

I make this statement in relation to the McCANN family who are currently in Portugal. The McCANN family is composed of Gerry McCANN, his wife, Kate McCANN and their three children,Madeleine, 4 years old, and Sean and Amelie, who are twins, aged two.

As has been widely covered by the news, Madeleine is not with her family presently, and has been missing for the last two weeks.

I will begin by explaining that I am married to Savio Gaspar and that we have two daughters, E., who is almost 3 and I. who is now one year old. I have been married to Savio for 11 years. I am a General Practitioner like my husband. I met my husband when we were (page 1) working together in Exeter, about 14 years ago.

To explain the way in which we met the McCANN family, I would like to state that my husband knows Kate, as they both attended Dundee University between 1987 and 1992. At that time, Kate’s name was Kate HEALY. I met Kate and Gerry on the occasion of their wedding, around 1998, in Liverpool. Both Savio and I went to the wedding because as Savio was an old friend of Kate’s, we were both invited to the event.

As far as I know, Savio did not know Gerry before the abovementioned wedding. From that time onwards, we met as friends about three times a year and we would spent weekends away together. I would say that we became intimate friends of Gerry and Kate.

I remember that in 2002 or 2003, Savio and I spent a weekend with Gerry and Kate in Devon. We would stay in contact with each other by telephone.

In 2002/2003 Savio and I were living in Birmingham and the McCANNS in Leicester.

In September of 2005, Savio, I and E., who at the time was about 1 and a half years old, went to spend our holidays abroad, in Majorca. We went (page 2) on holiday with Kate, Gerry, and Madeleine, who would have been around 2 and a half years old and with the twins, Sean and Amelie, who were just months old. I remember that I was pregnant with I.

During those holidays there were also friends of Gerry and Kate with us.

There was a couple, whose names were Dave and Fiona, and whose surname was PAYNE, I believe. I think that they were married and had one daughter aged about 1, named L. I remember that during those holidays that Fiona was pregnant.

There was another couple, whose names were Tara and Stuart, but whose surname I cannot remember who were also on holiday with us. They had two boys, aged 1 and 3, whose names I do not remember. I did not know these two families before we went on holidays together. From memory, I think that it was Dave who organised these holidays and we all stayed together in a big house when we were in Majorca.

We spend a week on holidays, however, the McCANN family and the PAYNE family stayed for two weeks. I think that Tara and Stuart, and their two children, also stayed for just one week.

Two or three days had gone by, we were all staying in Majorca where, in general terms, we had fun (Page 3) with our children. Possibly, around the fourth or perhaps the fifth day abroad, I remember an incident that stayed recorded in my head. I say this in this way, because I have thought numerous times about the incident that I am about to describe since that date.

One night, when we were on holiday, the adults, in other words, the couples that I mentioned were on a patio outside the house where we were staying. We had been eating and drinking.

I was sitting between Dave and Gerry whom I believe were both talking about Madeleine. I don’t remember the conversation in its entirety, but it seemed they were discussing a possible scenario. I remember Dave telling Gerry something like “she”, referring to Madeleine, “would do this”.

When he mentioned “this”, Dave was sucking on one of his fingers, pushing it in and out of his mouth, whilst with the other hand he circled his nipple, with a circulating movement over his clothes. This was done in a provocative manner there being an explicit insinuation in relation to what he was saying and doing.

I remember that I was shocked at this, and looked at Gerry, and also at Dave, to see their reactions. I looked around (page 4) to see “did anyone else hear this, or was it just me”. There was a nervous silence noted in the conversations of all the others and immediately afterwards everyone began talking again.

I never spoke to anyone about this, but I always felt that it was something very strange and that it wasn’t something that should be done or said.

Apart from this, I remember that Dave did the same thing once again. When I refer to this, I want to mention again that it was during a conversation, in which he was talking about an imaginary situation, though I could not say precisely what it was about. I believe that he was talking about his own daughter, L., though I’m not certain. He slid one of his fingers in and out of his mouth, while the other hand drew a circle around his nipple in a provocative and sexual manner. I believe that he was referring to the way that L., would behave or would do it.

I believe that he did this later on, during the holidays, but I cannot be sure. The only time, besides this one, that I was with Dave and Fiona was several weeks after the holidays, when Savio and I met up with Gerry, Kate, Dave and Fiona at a restaurant in Leicester.

I am absolutely certain that he said what he said and that he made the gestures I referred to, but that could have occurred in the restaurant in Leicester, even though (page five) I believe that it was later on, in Majorca. When I heard Dave saying and doing this a second time, I took it more seriously.

I remember thinking whether he looked at the girls in a different way from me or from the others. I imagined that maybe he had visited Internet sites related to small children. In short, I thought that he might be interested in child pornography on the internet.

During our holidays, I was more attentive at the bath times after hearing Dave saying that.

During our holidays in Majorca, it was the fathers who took care of the children baths. I had the tendency to walk close to the bathroom, if it was Dave bathing the children. I remember telling Savio to took care to be there, in case it was Dave helping to bathe the children and, in particular, my daughter E. I was very clear about this, as having heard him say that had disturbed me, and I did not trust him to give bath to E. alone.

When I heard Dave say that a second time, it reinforced what I already thought in relation to his thoughts about girls. During our stay in Majorca, Dave and his wife, Fiona, accompanied by their daughter L., took Madeleine (page 6) with them to spend the day, in order to give Kate and Gerry a bit of rest and time to be with the twins. When I say this, it is not that I was worried about Madeleine’s safety, since she was also with Fiona and L., and also with Dave, as far as I know.

As I have already mentioned, I was only with Dave and Fiona on one occasion, after Majorca, and I have not spoken to them since then. In the last two years, we have met, as a family, with the McCANN, every now and then. This mainly happens on the children’s birthdays, a time when we meet up.

The first time I heard of the terrible news about Madeleine’s disappearance through the radio, my thoughts went immediately to Dave. I asked Savio if Dave was also on holidays with the McCANN in Portugal but he did not know.

I watched the TV thoroughly, and seeing the news coverage, I noticed that Dave was there, because I saw him, in the background, on the television images during the first days after Madeleine’s disappearance. Based upon that, I believed that he was on holidays with the McCANN in Portugal.

Today, Wednesday, 16th of May of 2007, at 17:40, I gave DC Brewer an A4 page containing 2 photographic images. I am going to refer to these images as (Ref KZG/1) (element of proof) that may (page seven) be presented as means of proof, if necessary. These photographs were taken during the holidays in Majorca. In the photographs, Dave is wearing a white T-shirt and the woman in the photograph corresponds to his wife Fiona. The man who is holding the glass of wine in the photograph is Stuart. These photographs were taken while we were in Majorca.

Witness statement of Arul Savio Gaspar

Name: Arul Savio Gaspar

Date of statement: 16-05-2007

This statement was made in relation to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

I currently work as a GP at Saint Clements Surgery, Birmingham, where I have been employed for the last nine years.

Madeleine is the daughter of Kate and Gerry McCann and we are friends of the family.

I have known Kate since 1987, when we met at Dundee Medical School, and became friends. We have remained in touch all this time and meet up 3 or 4 times a year, we often talk on the phone or email each other.

When we first became friends in 1987 she was still known as Kate Healy, this was the case until she married Gerry at the end of 1990s. Kate and I completed our medical degrees in 1992, when we each carried on with our lives, once we had begun our careers.

After I finished my degree I began my career in Exeter, and I think Kate went to Glasgow.

I only met up with Kate again in 1997 or 1998. At that moment I was married to Katherina, we had both been invited to attend Kate and Gerry’s wedding.

After their wedding we lost contact and I think they went to New Zealand.

We only met up again in 2001 in Birmingham.

The couple visited us in the house where we then living, in Athingys Green, and this was the first time I talked to Gerry.

I think that at the time Kate and Gerry were living in Queeniborough, Leicestershire.

From 2001 and 2005 we were in regular contact and often visited each other’s homes.

We planned holidays for the first week of September 2005 in Majorca, Spain, together with three other couples including Kate and Gerry. We did not know the other two couples, they were friends of Kate and Gerry’s, we had never met them before.

We all had children.

When we went on this holiday we had one daughter, E. aged 18 months.

Kate and Gerry had 3 children, Madeleine almost two and the twins who were six months old.

The other couples were Fiona and David Payne and their daughter L. who was one year old and Stuart and Tara who had two boys aged three and one. I do not remember Tara and Stuart’s surname nor the names of their children.

Katherine and I had booked the holiday for one week and the other two couples had booked for two weeks. We stayed together in a large villa.

We all arrived at the villa separately.

During the period we stayed at the villa I remember a gesture made by David Payne.

I do not remember the context of the conversation between David and Gerry, but I do remember seeing David use his left index finger to rub his nipple, using circular movements, whilst he put his right index finger into his mouth, touching his tongue. This happened during a meal, at the end of the day in the villa, I do not remember the time or the date, but we would usually dine between 19.30 and 21.00 every day. I think this happened in the middle of the holiday.

I remember that when I saw this gesture I immediately thought it to be in very bad taste, independently of the context of the conversation they were having. We were sitting around a white plastic table in the villa. I don’t know if anyone else saw the gesture, apart from my wife Katherina. After this gesture, we did not notice any others and as far as i know, the gesture was not repeated.

We never commented on this gesture during the rest of the holiday and I thought no more about it.

I can describe Dave as a Caucasian male 1.78 m tall, and of a medium complexion. He had brown hair and used glasses/contact lenses depending on the circumstances.

I can say that Dave was a pleasant person. I do not remember him having any unusual characteristics.

During the holidays Dave never behaved in an inappropriate manner with Madeleine or with any of the other children. Dave was popular with the children and I took this to be because he was a close friend to the family.

I never distrusted Dave. After the holidays there was one occasion when we were with Kate and Gerry and Fiona and Dave were also present.

That was in a restaurant in Leicester in 2005. I do not remember the name of the restaurant.

We had a pleasant evening, just the three couples without the children.

I do not remember Dave having behaved inappropriately on this occasion. We have not spoken to Dave or Fiona since December 2005, only due to their being friends of Kate and Gerry, not for any other reason.

The last time I saw Kate, Gerry, Madeleine, Sean and Amelie was in March 2007 when they came to our house for the first birthday celebration of my daughter I.. On the morning of 4th May Katherine saw the news aboutMadeleine on television. We were very shocked and worried given that they were close friends.

It was during the days following the news of the abduction that we discovered that Fiona and David Payne were also with them in Portugal.

It was at this moment that Katherina showed concern at the gesture made by Dave in Majorca in 2005. Katherina remembered that when Dave made the gesture he was referring toMadeleine.

I only remember that Katherina saw the gesture at the time, I had forgotten the episode, it was never the subject of conversation.

At the time I did not feel the gesture was referring to Madeleine.

It is my wish that the police are aware of my preoccupation with the gesture made by David Payne.

If you are ill-inclined to take up the complete book initially, might I suggest you read chapters Eighteen to Twenty, and then you can decide to read or not the complete book, though I rather think it won't be a terribly hard decision.

Any Thoughts?

I am, or I was before I put these two graphics together, working on other graphics for a blog post.

I have to be honest about it, bitch as I have in the recent past about how time consuming the McCann Gallery was, it was other things besides the hours.

It was far better suited to my psyche, and again I have to be honest, these fuckers wind me up to a degree that; well let's not go there shall we, because it's far from pleasant, it's dark in fact.

Consequently the stress level, even though it was of my own making, was much lower, satisfaction? similar I guess, but satisfaction is not what it's really all about, it never has been, it's about putting a halt to the damage that this pair and their agents are doing to the fabric of this country.

Justice for Madeleine McCann, conviction and a lengthy period of incarceration, proportionate to their crimes and stopping the rot have fused inextricably to become a homogeneous entity in its own right, a Cause a Crusade call it what you will, but whatever we call it, it is imperative that we serve it to the best of our ability and in the most affective way possible.

There is much at stake here, Madeleine McCann has become for me, as she did so long ago for her parents, quite incidental.

Incidental to the parents as the little girl she was, incidental in most every way, but not incidental as a little earner, not incidental as the cash cow she has become, not incidental as the McCanns have defiled everything about the girl, defiled her memory, defiled her image, defiled her body, defiled everything about the pitiful little thing, defiled even her short tragic life on this earth.

What truly abominable creatures they are, Madeleine McCann, pimped by her own parents to become the most famous little whore in the world.

And well it would do us all to remember, to remember well all the others that wallow and wade through their own disgusting slime in their eagerness to feast at the Madeleine McCann money trough, you know well who they are, as do I, as do half the world, how could we forget?

This post has turned into something unintended, and no harm for that.

Originally it was to reach out for your thoughts on which direction that I might take regarding what I do here.

Having just written what I have, or should I say having been a party to what appears on the page, for it seems the thing has written itself, however it got there it has brought me to a decision.

Of the day to day goings on I shall write no more, I will resurrect the McCann Gallery and if I choose to write it will be as opinion pieces only.

Thank you all for your interest and support.

These two are somewhat academic now, but never mind.

Yes Kate, Questions Do Need To Be Answered But Not By Murat

It was my chat with Ironside earlier this evening that prompted me to go in search of this old post. The subject of that chat being Kate McCann's sordid efforts to try and sell Robert Murat up the river, and how it became a defining moment on how I approached this case.

Ironically the post just so happens to mention:

.....seven witnesses claim to have seen Mr Murat near the McCanns' holiday apartment on the night of May 3.

This is a re-up from Only in America, and judging by the date, New Years Day 08 of all days, and judging by the intro, I was treating this case like it had leprosy and it was the last thing I wanted to blog about. Oh how I wish.
But that said, the post has a graphic of Murat, so I don't know what to make of the dates, and frankly I'm past caring tonight.

eta: Having given it a little thought, it would appear that I was being drawn into this story albeit reluctantly. Is there any wonder?

Yes Kate, Questions Do Need To Be Answered But Not By Murat

I normally avoid writing on this story like I would avoid the plague, but when I read the likes of this from Kate I left my kids alone every night so I could go on the piss McCann it kind of stirs me.

This below was not part of the original post, but obviously an early attempt and equally obvious, cobbled together while in the early stages of my learning curve.

You have some nerve woman, you and your sneering arrogant little prick of a husband, if questions need to be answered I suggest you and your poxy husband show an example and lead the way.

And a pox on the Daily Mail for it's incessant writing of such trash, and not least the photo it runs with today's story, Katiepoos sat there looking all so sweet and innocent, what a bloody croc.

You are a scumbag, you and your husband both.

Kate McCann: My suspicions over Murat's alibi on the night Madeleine vanished

Kate McCann is suspicious about Robert Murat's alibi for the night her daughter Madeleine vanished, it was revealed yesterday.

The mother of three has confided to friends she believes there are questions about the British expat that need to be answered.

Mrs McCann's doubts emerged after the Daily Mail reported that seven witnesses claim to have seen Mr Murat near the McCanns' holiday apartment on the night of May 3.

He has always insisted he was at home all night at the villa he shares with his elderly mother in Praia da Luz, near the Mark Warner holiday complex. A friend of Kate and her husband Gerry said: "Kate has always felt there are questions concerning Murat and a body of evidence contrary to what he is saying.

"Gerry doesn't know whether he is involved but Kate has always been suspicious."

Mrs McCann, 39, has avoided publicly voicing suspicions about Mr Murat. more

Absolutely staggering.

How times do change, my first McCann related post.

Is This Turning Into a Circus?

Whereas I have every sympathy for the parents and share the public's concern for the safety of Madeleine McCann, I cannot help but wonder about certain aspects and motives in this ongoing tragedy.
And now the parents are flying off for an audience with the Pope.
The couple are expected to head for Italy on Tuesday on a private plane provided by a well-wisher before their meeting with Pope Benedict XVI .

And my second.

Arab News:The Brits The Tabloids The McCanns
.
In truth I only started to take an interest in this story after the McCanns were declared arguidos. (suspects)

I have in the past posted a couple of articles on the subject only to find the blog has been inundated with visitors following this particular story, it's very similar to the current cause celebre Dog Chapman. If a blogger wants thousands of hits then all they have to do is run with a sensational headline, but that's not what it's really about, well not for me.

All that said I'm running with this article from the Arab News and I do have to admit they ain't a million miles away.
Incidentally I have a daily read of the comments section of the the "Madeleine" post at the Anorak because without a doubt there is something very very moody about this story, not least the behaviour of the the McCanns.

This is of course a phenomenon that is sweeping the globe but it is especially highly developed in Britain, a postindustrial country that has for some years boasted more actors than it does coal miners. It is perhaps no accident that the most successful British leader of recent times, the former Prime Minister Tony Blair, is a virtuoso performer, less a real politician than a showman with a special talent for impersonating a politician.

It might be uncharitably suggested that the McCanns, dining out in Portugal every night with their friends, were more concerned with playing the part of parents than with actually looking after their children, and that in this sense they are indeed the authors of their own misfortune.more
